Suggested Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive Darwin
Arrive in Darwin and pick up your vehicle before picking up supplies and spending the rest of the day experiencing the relaxed atmosphere and local highlights Darwin has to offer. Darwin is a modern city whose flair and charm is a real surprise to people who aren't expecting it. Visit some of its great attractions, and great eateries or café's. Well attended markets & sensational sunsets cap off a great day.

Day 2: Darwin to Litchfield
Travel the 140 km from Darwin to Litchfield National Park. Litchfield offers year round swimming amongst attractive and easily accessible surrounds. Characterised by a spring fed Plateau. Unlike Kakadu and other spots in the top end, waterfalls flow all year round at Litchfield. Their are number of swimming options including the stunning Buley Rockhole & Wangi Falls.

Day 3: Litchfield to Kakadu
An early start traveling from Litchfield to Kakadu, stopping off & exploring the scenery and attractions around the Mary River Wetlands. Unfortunately the wetlands are overlooked by most people as they rush towards Kakadu. One of the most populated biomass region in the world offers stunning views of waterbirds & jumping crocodiles. Arrive into Kakadu and begin exploring this sensational National park capping off the day with a sensational sunset at Ubirr.

Day 4: Explore Kakadu National Park
A full day exploring some the main attractions in the northern and central sections of this exceptional National Park. Take the option of a scenic flight over the spectacular wetlands and arnhemland escarpment (extra cost) or explore the rock art bushwalks and safe swimming hole near Nourlangie (Kakadu's most popular attraction). Please note your 4WD is allowed into Jim Jim Twin Falls so you have the option to spend part of the day exploring this spectacular region.

Day 5: Kakadu to Katherine
Another great day explore the attractions in the southern region of Kakadu at your own pace. A really early morning Yellow Water Cruise, (maybe) before heading south stopping to experience the amazing waterfalls and plunge pools at Gunlom or Maguk. Leaving the park and heading towards Katherine, take the time to stop off at historic Pine Creek or for a swim at picturesque Edith Falls (time permitting).

Day 6: Around Katherine
Drive the 30km from Katherine to the most visited landmark in the region. Katherine Gorge is carved through the Arnhemland plateau. It is a continuous gorge, running along perpendicular fault lines that are separated during the dry season by rock bars. The spectacle of the river, shear cliffs and rock art make this an excellent place to explore. Photos do not do this area justice.

Day 7: Katherine to Kununurra
A long 500km drive from Katherine to Kununurra with a relaxing stopover half way at Timber Creek. A truly spectacular drive amongst some picturesque scenery. Along the way you will cross over the beautiful Victoria River and escarpements. Your departure time will depend on what time you want to arrive at Kununurra and which attractions you want to visit along the way.

Day 8: Around Kununurra
A full day to relax and/or explore the stunning attractions around Kununurra. Depending on your interests choose between a number of world class attractions including Lake Argyle & the Ord River or the spectacular scenery and bushwalks of Keep River National Park. Alternatively choose a guided tour into the Mitchell Falls or the Argyle Diamond Mine. (all are extra cost options - for costs refer to summary below).

Day 9: Kununurra to Bungle Bungles
Depending on your interests and how you spent yesterday, spend some time exploring attractions around Kununurra including Mirima National Park before heading down the highway to the Bungle Bungle National Park. The drive into the Park is an attraction in itself. Several open creek and river crossings and inspiring scenery make this slow track a great 4WD trek. Depending on what time you arrive into the Bungles begin exploring some of the stunning walks.

Day 10: Around Bungle Bungles
A full day to relax and explore the simply awesome Bungle Bungles. A short drive to the start of the walk to Cathedral Gorge gets you up close to the widely photographed beehive domes. Cathedral Gorge is incredibly stunning with its towering beehive cliff faces and cold pool of water fringed by a sandy beach. Later in the day you have the option to drive the full length of the Bungles to Echidna Chasm, Frog Hole Gorge & Mini Palms Gorge where you will experience a very different aspect on the Bungles.

Day 11: Bungle Bungles to El Questro
Today has you departing the Bungle Bungles and heading towards El Questro at whatever time of the day suits. Today you will reach the start of the Gibb River Road. Along the way visit Tier Gorge or Canteen Waterhole before arriving into Emma Gorge. The strenuous walk to Emma falls is well worth the effort and you will marvel at its beauty of Emma Falls. Depending on what time you arrive into El Questro take the opportunity to enjoy the spectacular scenery, bushwalk amongst the many spectacular gorges, fish for the mighty barramundi or take a cruise down Chamberlain Gorge. You'll be supplied with all the information you need to make the decision on the day.

Day 12: Around El Questro Station
Spend most of the day exploring the awesome attractions and things to do at El Questro Station. There are all sorts of station activities including flights, heli-fishing, gorge cruises, horseback, camel-riding, and bushwalks. El Questro Gorge is the most spectacular walk in the park making its way through narrow and shear cliff faces, clear rock pools and tropical rainforest.

Day 13: El Questro to Manning Gorge
Today, depart El Questro and head down the Gibb River Road at whatever time of the day suits.Your first challenge will be crossing the mighty Pentecost river (be careful). Along the way marvel at the stunning scenery and some of the great attractions along the Gibb River Road. On arrival into Manning Gorge, pause at Mt Barnett roadhouse, to refuel and have some ice creams! You will will make camp at the beautiful Manning Gorge with time to explore its rugged beauty.

Day 14: Manning Gorge to Mornington Wilderness Camp
Depart Manning Gorge and travel along the Gibb River Rd and follow the 4WD track to the wilderness retreat of Mornington Wilderness Park. This part of the Kimberley is little known in the mainstream but is the highlight of most people's trips. The scenery and gorges are unforgettable. Your departure time from Manning Gorge will depend on what time you want to arrive at Mornington and which of the stunning attractions you want to explore along the way. Choose to visit, relax and swim at Galvans, Adcock or Barnett River Gorge before continuing your journey into Mornington.

Day 15: Around Mornington Wilderness Camp
A full day to explore Mornington Wilderness Park. Spend the day exploring the Kimberleys most beautiful gorges including Dimond Gorge with its spectacular towering cliffs and awe inspiring colours. Sir John Gorge: with great scenery & swimming in beautiful clear water, with its moderately easy walks as well as a 20km walk along the gorge if interested and appropriately prepared. Beautiful sunsets great walks and the option to canoe up Diamond Gorge will make today one of the highlights of your trip to the Kimberley.

Day 16: Mornington to Bell Gorge
Spend the morning enjoying more of Mornington before heading back out to the Gibb River Road and spending the afternoon exploring Bell Gorge. (one of the most picturesque gorges in the Kimberley) After a memorable afternoon swimming, photography and bushwalking return to Bell Gorge Campground where you will spend the night.

Day 17: Bell Gorge to Derby
Continue your Kimberley adventure along the Gibb River Road. An adventurous day exploring the famous gorges and landforms of the West Kimberley. Explore at your own pace and marvel at the natural landforms such as Lennard River Gorge, Windjana Gorge (an ancient underwater reef that is now above ground) and Tunnel Creek (bring your bathers and flashlight) before spending the night at Derby.

Day 18: Derby to Cape Leveque
Spend the day driving from Derby to Cape Leveque at whatever time suites. Your departure time will depend on whether you choose to do a tour of the Horizontal Waterfalls (extra cost) and what time you want to arrive at Cape Leveque with its rugged pindan cliffs and sparkling tropical waters. While the road between Derby and the Dampier Peninsula turnoff (190km) has few recognised attractions, the Cape Leveque Rd north offers rich aboriginal culture and history amongst its coastal communities as well as pristine beaches.

Day 19: Around Cape Leveque
A relaxing day on the tip of the Dampier Peninsula. Cape Leveque is a great way to unwind at the end of your 21 day northern Australia adventure. The picturesque coastline around Cape Leveque is truly spectacular and remains pristine. A great day exploring the Cape, strolling on the beach and watching the magnificent sunsets along this spectacular piece of the Kimberley. For the more adventurous, take a half day cultural tour of the cape or take on a guided or self guided fishing, scuba diving and snorkelling tour. Equipment is available for hire if you choose the self guided options.

Day 20: Cape Leveque to Broome
Drive from Cape Leveque to Broome at whatever time of day suits you. Your departure time will depend on what time you want to arrive at Broome and which attractions you want to visit along the way. The Dampier Peninsula has some rich aboriginal culture and history amongst its coastal communities. You also have the opportunity to visit Willie Creek Pearl Farms or Cygnet Bay Pearl Farms. The only public access Pearl farms in the Kimberley.

Day 21: Depart Broome
A free day to relax and swim at Cable Beach, shop for pearls or explore more of Broome's highlights depending on what time and how you are leaving Broome. Please note Vehicle needs to be returned before 4pm.
